Dr. Steve Pelletier B.Sc., D.C. (Chiropractor)

Dr. Steve Pelletier is a Chiropractor and Educator.  He is the owner of In Balance Chiropractic and Health Centre located in Orleans, Ontario.

He graduated from the University of Moncton in New Brunswick with a bachelor degree in Kinesiology. During his 4 years at the University of Moncton he was part of the varsity cross-country and track and field team. These problems are then addressed with chiropractic adjustments to help restore proper motion in the joints and techniques that help restore the normal function of muscles. One muscle technique that he uses is called Graston Technique. Rehabilitation exercises are also prescribed to prevent such injuries from reoccurring.

Dr. Pelletier is also an educator.  He is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa where he teaches posture, movement and injury prevention (HSS 2511), and prevention and care of athletic injuries (APA 3525).  Dr. Pelletier also regularly teaches continuing education seminars to registered massage therapists, kinesiologists, personal trainers, nurses and chiropractors.

Carolyn Mercer B.Sc., N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor)

Carolyn Mercer graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Science, studying biology and psychology.  At this time she developed an interest in evidence-based research.  Since attending the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, she has integrated her past research-based education with a more holistic avenue of healing.  As a Naturopathic doctor, Carolyn was trained in several modalities of alternative health including nutrition, botanical medicine, Chinese medicine and acupuncture, homeopathy, bodywork and lifestyle counseling.  During the extensive training at the college, she was trained in western medicine and diagnosing, but her background has taught her to utilize  alternative methods to treat a wide range of conditions, that, in turn, have a gentler more healing effect on the body.

Carolyn has also enjoyed integrating her interest in alternative health and travel while working overseas in the alternative health field since she has volunteered at some homeopathic mobile clinics in Kenya.

Since setting up practice in Ottawa, Carolyn welcomes all new patients dedicated to improving their health and quality of life.  With Carolyn’s forward-thinking, preventative approach towards health, she believes that no matter what the level of health of the individual, there are always ways to improve the quality of our lives each and every day.  Special interests include weight loss, nutrition and exercise, detoxification, fatigue, gastrointestinal health and allergies, mental health and wellness and infertility.

Meghan Graham B.A, D.Ac. (Acupuncture Practitioner)

Meghan graduated in 2005 from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Honours Asian Studies and Cultural Anthropology.  After graduation, Meghan moved to Fukuchiyama, Japan where she spent a life-changing two years living and working.

Upon returning to Canada, and dealing with a few health issues, Meghan discovered Acupuncture.  After experiencing first hand the amazing effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture, Meghan decided to move to Ottawa to learn more.  She graduated with Honours from the Acupuncture Practitioner Program at the International Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

As an Acupuncture Practitioner, Meghan is kind, caring and gentle.  She believes that the body has the power to heal and Acupuncture is the catalyst that allows healing to take place.  Meghan’s approach to treatment is holistic; treating the whole body achieves the most lasting and profound results.  The TCM approach to treatment is very individual; each patient receives a treatment plan tailored specifically for them and their needs.  This is possibly what Meghan enjoys the most about this form of healthcare- the individual care and attention it allows for each patient.  Meghan has a keen interest in treating patients with many different complaints: ranging from pain to insomnia and weight issues to infertility.  TCM also teaches about the important link between emotional/mental health and physical health.  By approaching illnesses from both a physical and mental/emotional side, Meghan is able to offer her patients greater relief and truly help them achieve their health goals.
